Cartoceto is a small town in the province of Pesaro-Urbino, located near the river Metauro. Very impressive is the historical center with Piazza Garibaldi, the “Palace of the People” (where it opens a bow, the ancient entrance to the castle once equipped with a drawbridge), Marcolini Palace of the 19th century and Marconi Square that offers a beautiful view.
Apart form the beauty of the village, the main reason to visit Cartoceto is gastronomic: the area produces one of the Marche region’s finest olive oil as well as “formaggio di fossa”, a typical cheese that is closed up in underground caves to mature (all tipical local products, made by peasants that live in the Farmhouse Marche neighbouring).
