Fossombrone, a medieval town dominated by the Malatesta fortress

Fossombrone is a medieval old town lying on the slope of a hill and dominated by a citadel and the ruins of the Malatesta Fortress. The modern part of the town arise on both sides of the river Metauro (with Apartments Marche). Viewed from afar, Fossombrone is characterized by sloping roofs from which the church towers stand out.

Of great importance there are: Corso Garibaldi with its buildings of the 15^th and 16^th century, such as the Staurenghi and the Cattabeni palaces, the churches of St. Philip, St. Francis, St. Augustine, Sant'Aldebrando and the Cathedral. There is also, of great importance, the monument "twinning", a bronze casting of the artist Andrea Corradi.
