Saltara

The historic center of Saltara is surrounded by the walls of the castle and you can access thanks to an imposing staircase going up to a street with colonnade where takes place the city market. Inside the walls there are the Malatesta Tower, carrying a coat of arms with a winged dragon, that is the symbol of the city and the Town Hall. Two beautiful churches are available outside the walls: the church of S. Celestine and S. Lucia.

On a vast terrace hill there is “Villa Balì”: a beautiful residence that was built by the Negusanti family that was restored in the eighteenth century , to obtain the present appearance. Today it is used as an interactive museum of science with the aim of spreading the culture of science. There are interactive stations where visitors can experience live phenomena and the museum also has an observatory and a planetarium.
